loneliness can be magical, if experienced in the right amount. like any so-called "negative energy" of life, we can use reminders with a certain frequency to reset our perspective. in the case of visits to The Salton Sea, it remains the only place I can think that provides a yearning for loneliness. unlike "being alone", loneliness is truly a state of mind, even while in the company of others. in the instance of the Salton Sea, I find loneliness to provide a gateway to anywhere in the world, and look at those locations (or think about friends in those locations) in a different way. it is surprising that we must be tossed into an opposite corner to realize with good measure what is in the favorite corner.
